Was a real tuff day yesterday. I drive a logging truck for a living and yesterday I hit deer and bent my front bumper. If that wasn't bad enough later on I had a slight mishap on the bush road, my trailer fell over and bent the everlovin crap out of it. Now I probably have a week off and it is to dam cold to ride. The snow is about 200 feet above my house and today it only got up to about plus 5 c. Oh well I guess I will put some stabil in the gas and put her away for the winter. I really envy you folks who live further south, you get a way longer season than we do in central British Columbia. Anyway just had to vent a bit, now going to drown my pain in a bottle 40 creek whiskey. Have a good day all. Big R

Bummer dude, the worst part is not being able to ride.... That is true therapy for most of us... A few moments in the Kookaloo zone and the rest of the world seems much less important.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Instead of focusing on the bad things..... how about telling us why you like living there?

True the FJ delivers something different but with a long winter I'm sure there are plenty of different ways to get your fun on!

KOokaloo! (in the snow  :good2:)

The good news is you are OK and spring will come :). Deer stories.... Riding into Portland, Or one year from the East on the Washington side following a Blazer a deer leaped out directly in front of the Blazer with no reaction time, it totaled the Chevy Blazer and fortunately for me I had enough time to get on the binders to stop. North of here about 10 years ago a deer was running down a hill, came upon to a road cut, jumped off the small cliff and landed on top of a couple riding a Honda Goldwing. Killed them both. I am sure they were never expecting a deer falling out of the sky and landing on top of them. Deer can be lightning fast and unavoidable at times.
Again, glad to hear you are ok and here to enjoy life. What do you do during the winter when logging stops ?
Life isn't about having the best, but about making the best of what you have...

We don't stop logging until late March or early April. The winter months are the best time for logging as the ground is frozen and makes for better going. This is when I make the most money as a driver. I don't own my own truck anymore as it is a hard business to make money as an owner operator. You have to a larger company to make now a days. The person that I work for has 10 logging trucks and about 40 pieces of equipment, employs about 55 people. I have been here for 17 yrs. and he has some that have been with him for 34 yrs. We usually get a couple of months off in the spring, but it is still not very good riding weather then. The best doesn't start until about May which is about the time we are getting ready to start up again. I have been driving for 36 years , used to own my own truck in the late 80's but the industry went south and I ended losing it, probably the best thing that ever happened. It is snowing here right now but I don't think it is going to stay, we usually don't get snow this early. There lots of winter sports in the area, we have a world class ski resort called Sun Peaks, it is one of the largest in north amercia. There are lots of people from Wash. state that own condos there. All those that can still ride enjoy the Kooaloo and have great day. Big R
