front (gearbox) drive sprocket stuck!

hiya all.... having a real problem with getting the front sprocket off, i need to fit a new lock washer and i cant get  the thing to move!!  can anyone give any tips here.... is the thread anticlockwise for removal (satndard thread). the nut (36mm) is on real tight. i dont want to start giving it grief until i have it in my head is it left hand or right hand thread.  any suggestions welcome cheers  ian

Having replaced my front sprocket once I seem to remember that it is standard RH thread, righty tighty, lefty loosy (counter clockwise).
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Monkey's right.  Its standard RH thread.
Put the bike in gear, put a block of wood across the swingarm to keep the wheel and engine from turning, and heave to with either a long breaker bar or an impact gun.

at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  just thought id let you know that after hours of blood, sweat and cursing!!!!!! i managed to get the sodding thing off!!!!!! cheers lads for your help. it finally gave up the fight after a 6 ft bar and 19 stone jumping up and down on it. ha ha ha  all is calm now. cheers
