Changing the oil via the fuel tank????

Was getting ready to change the oil and filter and fit Randys spin on adapter.  Doing a bit of reading about options for oil (won't open that can of worms in this thread) when I came across a couple of posts where people were talking about changing the oil without removing the drain plug because of stripping the threads or issues with just not being able to get it out coz it has rusted in there!

My question is does anyone else subscribe to this school of thought and if so how the heck do you get the oil out, remove the clutch cover? Take out the filter and tip the bike over? Suck it out with a straw? Or just tip the bike upside down and shake it out through the gas cap!!!!!

Interested to know your thoughts!

Not the oil drain plug on the bottom of the sump, they were referring to the little oil drain screw on the side of the filter cover housing -which you're doing away with anyway....

PS. Although, it IS possible to over-tighten the sump plug, requiring a heli-coil, DAMHIKIJKOK :mad:

I did think that but does that not mean you leave an amount of oil unchanged as it sits lower than that point (in the sump?)

If you have after market pipes, i.e. Vance & Hines, Kerker, Yoshimura and maybe a few other brands. The collectors sit directly beneath the drain plug. To eliminate the need of removing the pipes. Remove the left oil cooler line where it attaches to the oil pan.
