Never trusted it completely, but it sucks just to watch the poor needle lying still on the other side.
I remember reading something about really strong magnets...

Mine has done this twice. Last time it happened was when I filled the tank to the brim.  Just get a super strong magnet (neodymium), circle it around the needle axis a couple of times and bob's your uncle.
