Good evening everyone,
Two weekends ago while on my way to the Bay Area from far northern California, my voltage meter pegged indicating a serious over charging problem. What to do 200 hundred miles from home?
Call Randy at RPM...  and Randy being the great resource that he is, interrupted his schedule and waited for for me to arrive at his shop.
Fortunately for me (not to mention all the other FJ owners out there) among the myriad of parts that he keeps in stock, there is the new & improved voltage regulator in stock. Over a thousand miles later it is nice to be able to say the voltage regulator is working great.
While there, I asked Randy if he could change the fork oil because of the many miles I have logged since installing the fork valves and springs. Being as gracious as ever, he did change the oil and I would like to report that the oil looked as if it had only been in use for only a short time, not the many thousands of miles of actual use. I believe that in itself is a testament to the integrity of the new valves & springs.
While I am on the subject of improvements, the oil cooler conversion remains as sound as ever, not a bit of oil seepage nor one mounting bolt or hose fitting having loosened nor bracket cracked. And the oil temperature, as monitored by an oil temperature gauge that I installed, has always remained within reasonable limits.
Based on my experience with products from RPM and Randy's mechanical expertise, that is the main reason I have been able to log so many [sometimes hard] miles on my FJ 1200.
I just wanted to say thanks to Randy once again for his efforts on behalf of all FJ owners.
Ride carefully,
Mike Ramos.
