Here is the latest update from Janie Winn on Steve's progress.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Well, today (Tuesday) was a long day for me, but a good day of rest for Steve.  He's controlling his pain very well with the oral meds and seems more like himself with each passing day.  He sleeps a lot which is just what he needs.

Today (Tuesday) Physical & Occupational therapy came to work with him for about an hour.  He was shown how to get out of bed and into a wheelchair and then how to manipulate around his room and out into the hallway.  He handled it like a seasoned pro (like most things he does).   I was instructed to bring street clothes tomorrow so he would feel more comfortable with the needed manipulations they are doing.  (No more flashing the nurses I suppose)

Steve is very tough and complains very little to the doctors just saying "everything hurts".  He's been complaining to me about his right arm, but finally today told the right doctor who ordered x-rays.  His right ulna is broken up near his elbow so they plan to splint or cast it tomorrow.  They came to put a temporary cast on it tonight but Steve refused it and said he's waited this long he would wait for the splint tomorrow.  The doctor asked if ANYTHING else was hurting and if so he would x-ray it.  Steve said, "No, just stiff and sore all over". It seems the insurance company won't pay for x-rays of areas where the patient isn't reporting pain.  They rule the world!

I'm curious what the rehab folks are going to say about his new discovery.  I'll let you know tomorrow night.

Just in case you've lost count:  right leg broken tibia & fibula, right arm broken ulna, left leg broken fibula, cracked sternum, 2 cracked ribs behind collar bone, T3 fracture in back, possible nerve damage at T6 T7.
