At 4:20am I left home (Claremont, MN) on my 1984 Yamaha FJ1100 to meet my friend Steve Sherry in Dodge Center, MN at or around 5:00am.  The plan is to ride to Valley City North Dakota and back - about 1026 miles total with stops about every 100 miles.  The ride was smooth sailing, a little bit of rain entering South Dakota, but cleared up after a short while.  Stopped at Subway for lunch at about 11:30 in Fargo, ND.  Arrived in Valley City ND about 1:30pm, fueled and turned around.  Arrived back in Dodge Center MN at about 10:30pm, well within the 24 hour limit.

This was my first Saddle Sore 1000 (1000 miles in 24 hours).  The FJ ran tops and didn't ask for anything but more gas, and actually the night ride home was cool and the bike felt supercharged!  I can't think of a better bike to tackle it on.

Well done.

I have a few 1000 mile sub 24 runs up but none certified by the IBA.

Once again well done.

Cheers.

That's really cool how you documented everything. I never remember to do that. I've done some basic maintenance on my FJ, and it's been rock-solid for a couple years now. Very dependable!

You should have gone north through my home town of Brainerd. The route you took leads you through a million miles of cornfields. Pretty boring. I would have been fast asleep in about 50 miles. :morning2:
