HID vs rubber boot

FYI, when installing your HIDs make sure the lamp is secure in the housing. Otherwise it slips out and nearly causes a fire. This did not happen on my bike, I put the same HIDs in my truck. One failed so I sent it back to DDM and they replaced it no questions asked. Good warranty. When I reinstalled it, I must of not have twist-locked it enough. It worked loose and burned the crap out of the boot and melted some other wires before finding a resting place where it could not burn anything else. Right near the battery as well. After getting the burnt rubber crap all over the HID bulb it still worked. Attention to details really count when you wrench on your own stuff. Guess that's why so many of us don't want some snot-nosed kid younger than the bike to work on it.... My wake up call has awoken me....

The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

dam, who said hid,s don't get hot, that could of turned out nasty, , and your right about mechanics working on our Fj,s , used to be a bike shop here, one mechanic worked on the newer bikes , new what he was doing , the other guy was dodgy, worked on the older bikes , his nickname was beaker ( muppets )
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it
