Complete rebuild...What does this wire plug into???

Hi all...

I have been rebuilding my '92 FJ1200 for some time...it's nearly done and almost ready for a cross-country road trip.  I've been pretty meticulous with everything, but there's this ONE connector that I can't figure out what it plugs into???

It's behind the right side cover just above and a little forward of the fuel pump.  It's a two-conductor plug with one brown and one black lead.  I can't for the life of me figure out what it's supposed to connect to...Everything seems to be functioning as expected so...any thoughts?  Anyone have a 92-93 they can go take a look at?

If memory serves me, that is a spare connector.... let me take a look this evening to confirm - or has someone already taken a look.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.

For Calif. smog equipment All FJs got the plug just the Calif. bikes used it. If you need a switched hot leed there you go ,if not just leave it alone.

Harvy and tqmx1...

You guys rock.  Thank you!  I'm in California and bought the bike in Cali...but it's not a CA (smog) model.  Sweet.  I figured this out as I went along with having no canisters and not having the extra pieces parts...

I just tested that connector and it IS a switched 12V lead.  Sweet.  I may put that to use.

I intend to post a complete write-up in the projects section with all my pictures after I get back from my road trip in a couple of months...  If I can ever help any of you...just let me know!

ED!!!  Brother!!  Nice to hear from you...You know that a couple of your front brake seals will be travelling with me on my 8000+ mile road trip!  I was going to post some pics, but I've been working so much on getting this bike finished by the 20th that I couldn't take the time to ???

I there some FAQ that covers this?

I do still have the 75 MPG Honda Insight.  If I don't finish the FJ for some odd reason, I'm going to drive IT to New York...actually cheaper than flying!  :)

It's the third topic on the General Discussion page:

I think you got seals from elsewhere, but you have set of calipers that I used to own.  I hope you can post a few pix ...(The bike, not the calipers  :rofl2:)

Good Luck on your adventure!  8,000 miles on a fresh rebuild, sounds like fun!

Ed!

Picture uploading is now working for me!  This should all really go into the FJ projects section when I have the time to document this whole rebuild, but just a couple for now:

Almost done tearing it down (4 years ago)

Took it on the first ride on Friday...76 miles of Mulholland, Puerco Canyon, PCH and Malibu Canyon.  Wow did I miss this!

Heading out in 9 days for an 8000 mile journey!  Woo-Hoo!

Congrats, Ron.  I'm a bit jealous at the moment, you've done 76 more miles than I have this year on the FJ.
Sorry to say, but there's no there there; no pix in the gallery!

Yep...I finally got two pics to upload...they showed up in my gallery...and now they're gone.  If it helps you at all, the bike is really shiny.  :)
