Hey

New here and just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. My name is Jeff and I live in Southern California just north of LA and I own a 1991 FJ1200, I am the 2nd owner, my dad purchased the bike new back in 1991 and then in 2005 he bought a new bike and could not sell the FJ so he gave it too me!! He used to take me on rides when I was a kid and now I own the bike and take my kids on it, pretty cool I think! Anyways as far as mods go it is pretty much stock...a K&N air filter, Kerker 4 into 1 head pipes with a D&D muffler (the kerker broke off on a ride one day...).
I found this site in search of a new windscreen and stainless steel brake lines and have was amazed in the love for these old bikes! (i'm not the only one!) There is tons of great info here from what I have found so far!

forgot to mention bike has 33,800 miles, and another pic (still trying to figure out how to post images..)

Second generation FJ owner? Awesome!

And you're not alone in SoCal either. I'm in LA. Rebuilding the engine on my '90 right now.

Welcome to the forum!

FJmonkey in your area as well -- I pop up from San Diego often for rides as well.  Look for the posting in the ride section as we usually get 2 or 3 FJ along.  I also conduct rides down here ( SD ) look for those as well if interested.

Lastly - WCR is happening in June -- if interested we are riding up in Thursday - just look for the postings.  Have I mentioned you should watch for the postings...

ahh...another pink stripper!!
Welcome!
Glad to have you here with us.
You'll find that the longer you stay logged in here, the more your FJ will change.
Moditus is a disease that effects ALL.
Just a short 3 years ago, when I bought my Stock FJ, a 1991 pink stripper, it now has been transformed into a completely different machine and all for the better.

See ya around.

That's an awesome gift from your dad. Even if it isn't RED and WHITE! :i_am_so_happy: Pretend you bought it, we tend to appreciate things more we spend our $ on it. That does not sound as friendly as I mean it to. Obviously he thinks you deserve it or we would not of handed it down. Good for you man! I am in your general area too (San Dimas).  Keep an eye on the Join me for a Ride postings. The rally is near us this year. I've been to two, very friendly guys. No craziness, just good times. I recently purchased brake lines from "The Hose Man" in Irwindale. Reasonable price, often made while you wait. Maybe there is one nearer to you. Check web site.
Welcome,
Mike

Welcome to Kookaloo zone. I live right near the 2 and the 210 so I am up for a ride almost anytime. I have the moditus really bad and might be of use to you if you like doing your own work to keep your FJ running well. Ride up for a day or two and make the rally at the end of this month and meet many fellow FJ owners.

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Yup not many of us pink strippers here! I'm not much of a fan of the pink but i love the blue so that makes it cool! I love the FJ because they are so rare, I can't even remember the last time I saw another one of any year or color out on the road even here in SoCal where there are bikes everywhere!

The rally looks like a fun time I may have to take a ride up there one of the days, it's not far from me.  I'm in Santa clarita (6 flags magic mountain).

I will be keeping an eye on the ride page too! Would be fun to cruise with some other FJ'ers and turn some heads!

My FJ has never been in the shop and never will! I do all my own work on it, and have so since I was a kid helping my dad do maintenance on it.But after seeing these 17" rear wheel mods and the front brake mods I may be bugging you guys for some tips! I always thought I would just leave this bike stock but after seeing some of your bikes I think the mod bug may have bit me! Lol

I am also big into dirt bikes as well, the wife and kids all ride too!

I am pretty much the same about keeping thing pretty much stock but if there is one mod that I recommend you do..... it is the easiest and you will improve the bike tremendously ---- Do the blue dot caliper upgrade to the front brakes - and change the master cyl to the 14 mm ( as it works best with the blue dots)  - The blue dot calipers will just bolt on -- so will the master cyl ....bleed and go.  The brake feel over the original system is sooooooooo much better.  You already have the 17 inch wheel so you are good there ( except is you want to go with a wider rim ...but not necessary for the brake mod).
