..... Is there anyone in the group, that has had issues with the oil filter from the spin-on oil filter adapter, putting of so much heat, it is effecting the brake fluid [dot 5] going to the clutch slave cylinder??

Not personally, nor have I seen anyone report that sort of issue here....  If your oil is getting hot enough to boil the clutch fluid, that is NOT good, or, you have a lot of water in the slave cylinder.  Even wet, the boiling point should be around 350F.....

I have to ask...

What effect is the heat having?

How hot is it getting?

I can add from personal experience, with the car more so than the bike, there has never been an issue. The car sees much more heat than the bike as the engine is in the car sideways and the slave is against the firewall and hot.

The other thing the spin on adapter offers is more clearance between the filter and the slave cylinder. The stock canister housing is physically larger and closer to the slave.

I am interested in your concerns.

......Randy and Rich,
I notice a drip coming from the bottom of the slave cylinder and a large amount of heat coming from the oil filter. [just got back from a ride]
as you know, there is a pocket shape on the bottom side of the s/c
So, I am thinking that the heat from the filter is heating the brake fluid to the s/c and possiblity drying out the seal [that is causing the leak].

I checked the master cylinder and the brake fluid was dirty [almost black]. so, maybe the fluid is getting too hot!

It has not been that long ago, since I replaced the dot4 to dot5 brake fluid........[too soon to be dirty].

So, what I did was, I took a small piece of thick insulation and placed it in the pocket.

I am going to drain the fluid and fix the leak...... and with the insulation, I will have a better peace of mind, knowing the the heat from the oil filter is not getting to the s/c.

                                 Thanks, Jeff
