FJmonkey - San Dimas Mike and I completed the ride posted ( see join me for a ride category) - Excellent run - no traffic - weather was great for us and bikes ( cool but not cold).  Hwy 33 - 150 - Lockwood Valley all excellent roads.  With the help of some fellow bikers -- we found an excellent restaurant - Reyes Creek Bar and Grill --

If ever in the area of Lockwood Valley and Hwy 33 I highly recommend it -- and if so -- check out our Posted Dollar on the wall -- Right side bar --upper area

thanks  Mark and Mike -- it was a blast - hoot - and howl riding with you guys today.

For my portion of the ride - GPS data  Total miles 427.2 Moving time 7h30mins Stopped Time 4hrs - Avg speed 57mph  -- you boys can deduct about 200miles -- roughly about 100 one way to Sunland from Oside
PS - sorry guys .. I put the wrong date on the bill -- we can correct it next visit

Good write up Steve, it was a blast and we had a great ride! No incidents or accidents, except almost giving the Sheriff's department a high speed fly-by. All were in good form and we got our Kookalooo on. Looking forward to another Palomar run and visiting our southern most FJ riders.

HEY..... I've ridden that exact same ride before.... 150 drops right down into Ojai.... i believe Tom and i also stopped at the little watering hole right off of 33 out in the valley.   Good hamburgers.

some really nice roads around that whole area.... One thing i noticed about California traffic.... if you cant get a good cell signal then traffic will generally be light. ... who woulda thunk it?

Did you guys ride any Angeles Crest?

I took a week long trip out there in 2001...Wow that was a fun time....  i remember dropping Marc Rittner's FJ back off at his house after having it for about 7 days of me "gently" riding it all over California.

LMAO he didnt know it was possible to cup a rear tire on a FJ (and said so after a quick glance at the tires) .... i apologized profusely and told him those quality roads were just too hard to resist (I did buy him a new set of tires)

Angeles Crest and Hwy 1 midweek all the way up the coast were just epic.

Tom Slocum was my tour guide.   He knew all the best roads and the best time to ride them.
He was also present when i popped my high speed lane splitting cherry on the 405..... that was the MOST tense i have ever been on a motorcycle in my entire life.
I can get an adrenlin rush right now just thinking about it!
Great scenery there too...
I remember one evening sitting on a pier in Santa Barbara at sunset with my little sister, sipping a nice glass of wine, gazing up at snow covered mtns. while a nice warm breeze blew in off the water...... for me probably a once in a lifetime scene right out of the movies.

thanks for reminding me of some really good times with a good friend.  :good2:

RIP Tom Slocum   vaya con dios brother!

KOokaloo!

Hey Racerman,
Did not do Angeles Crest. AC is a great road and convenient for me ,but...too much traffic and too many cops on the week end. Unless I want to check out other bikes,  a ride like we did last week is mucho better for me. We went for many miles on some of these canyons without see anyone. New roads, new watering holes, it was great. Steve and Mark great riding buddies too. They always wait up for me. :drinks:

Don't let Mike fool you he is never too far behind -- 100 pct agreement Mike I can't wait till the days get a little longer so we don't have to cut the ride short... truth be told if we didn't take that wrong turn at Albuquerque ( Bugs Bunny ref)  and got gas in Frasier Pk we probably would have been able to complete the ride.... but we'll just say we'll save those roads for next time.
