hello, just a quick question concerning the rear shock on my 84 fj1100, im not sure if its standard, every one iv seen has a gear on the top(i think!) but mines not got that, its just got the twist coller for setting the compression preload, as soon as iv got it removed ill post a pick but it does not look anythink like the 2 iv found on ebay
thanks

just an added footnote, shock has fzr writen in pen on the top, so im assuming its been replaced and its from a breakers yard, iv been looking on ebay to see if i could find something that looked similer, fzr600/1000 look alike, iv also noticed the rear wheel sits on the floor when the bikes on the center stand ( im assuming that normally these bikes has one wheel in the air when on the center stand) sooo does any one know if another yamaha shock fits?...most likely slightly longer i suspect?

Randy at RPM is working a shock for our bikes. Not sure when they will be ready for sale but I am hoping soon. If Randy offers it, then it will be a quality product for less than the other options out there.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

the stock shock was pretty weak and sagged quite a bit. It sounds like the fzr shock is longer to lift the rear of the bike up for better turn in.

the penske shock is the preferred replacement over stock.
