I bought a clutch cover from a 1200 to replace the one on my 1100... but the innards (breather) seem to be different (items 19-26).  Should still be a bolt on no?  Do order a gasket for an 1100 or 1200?  seem to be different too!

I'd rather not remove the cover 'till I know it fits.
Thanks all!

A good question. I did not know that the gaskets were different. I did know that the breathers were different.

The '84/85 FJ1100 uses the same 36Y-15461-00 gasket

And the '86 to '93 FJ1200 uses the same 4CR-15461-00 gasket

So what's different about the gaskets?  I don't *think* anything...However if nothing is different why are there are there two different part numbers?

Randy... can you confirm that the gaskets are the same?

Looks like the 1200 has an area cut out in the upper right side (from this view).  The 1100 gasket looks thicker in that area.

There are three designs of the clutch cover. The breather area of the 1100 is different from the 1200 and requires a shorter rubber seal that goes on the case.

The 1200 cover will bolt on fine, but it leaves the crankcase breather circuit open internally and can push oil out the breather.

You can change just the inner plate #20 & 21 and that make that 1200 cover the same as your 1100 cover.

I posted pictures of the three difference in a thread hear many moons ago, but searching via cell phone has no produced the results I hoped for. I will try and look for that thread.

If you get a 1200 gasket, you may have to cut out the lower option of the window in #17 of the 1200 breakdown. It depends on what you remove and it might need to look like the right upper corner of #16 of the 1100 photo.

I only stock the 1200 gaskets since a couple small cuts convert it to an 1100 gasket.
