Who can give me the lowdown on the front fork seal job?
Much appreciated...
Ive heard 2 ways.
1-Fork out of tree and install from top?

2- Lower slider off with special wrench? and install.

Thanks alot,
C

Pretty sure you need the slider on to install the new seal.  Removing the old one shouldn't be hard.

you can get the old seal out and install the new one without taking the fork apart... however if its been awhile since the forks were serviced it wouldnt hurt anything to clean them out good.... you wouldnt think so but there is a considerable amount of sludge that accumulates in the bottom of the fork legs.

KOokaloo!  :good2:

Considerable?

AMAZING amount of nasty glop in forks that haven't been apart in awhile.  Just tear them apart, isn't difficult, and then they work quite a bit better than they used to!

Thanks anyone know the size of the inside Hex head that fits in the fork cap?
I remember using a large nut from the hardware store and a socket last time I took the forks
apart but I cant find the sizing for the moment.

Can't remember the size off hand, but your rear axle nut will do the job.

27mm... I use an 18mm bolt(head is 27mm) with a 5/8" spark plug socket pounded over the shank.... works GREAT!

Not sure if the file has been transferred yet, but in the Yahoo Files section in the mods folder is instructions for the fork upgrade, which has all the info you're looking for, and more than you'll need.
