Eureka!  Thanks guys...bike starter works with the kickstand down..in neutral...here I had put a new terminal end on the lead wires for the kickstand switch..backwards   

Flip the connector, plug it back in and life! (with the kickstand up)

I wish all problems were that simple to solve.

Nice job on the fix.... just goes to prove that most things can be fixed using the KISS method.
