I picked up a 90 fj1200 a few weeks ago. It had not been run much in the past few yaers. The old idling high and loss of power problem.   Checked the plug wires and found all had a weak spark.  the plugs where new.   as in the past on my other bikes i checked the resistance for both coils.  they read 3.5 k ohms.  After removing the cold solder joints and resoldering.   the resistance is now  2.3 K.   and it has a better idle and more power.  i may not even have to clean the main jets.  I'll replace the fuel filter then drive it for a while.  run some mystery oil and a tank of super.   Oh, the bike will be for sale soon.  I'll need to replace the fork oil and flush the fuilds first.   I live in Maryland and ill be posting the ad here with pictures soon. It's a black FJ with 40k easy miles, garage kept!

How about a write up on how you tested the coils, and the repair.

I'm leaning towards the good old relay trick to increase voltage to them, once I find those instructions again....
