93 fj1200 clutch switch repair

Hi guys,

Took the clutch switch off today after the big girl refused to start in gear and saw the little plunger thing that activates when the clutch is pulled in, was not working properly.

I separated the casing and of course, two little bits of copper flew out at me. I have no idea how the mechanics of the switch work.

I have trolled through the files section and really need someone to give me an idea on what the inside of the switch should look like.

Alternatively, advice on the best place to get a replacement is also welcome.

Russ,

The genuine switch isn't very expensive even from Yamaha dealers.
You could replace it with a pressure switch that fits between the master cylinder and the line banjo.  These are available at DennisKirk, Chaparral, and many other online m/c sellers.

I thought being an older bike the switch woud be hard to get. Nice to know there are still places to get these things from.

You could just bypass the switch, as well....... a short jumper to connect the 2 wires and she'll be good.
