So I had some time this past week to fiddle around in the FJ and get to work in it(have experienced some new problems, but... those are for another thread..)

So first thing I did was replace the cam chain gasket/ tensioner gasket. The manual made it sound really complicated for the installation, but after attempting it it seemed really easy - but maybe I did it wrong . Anyway, good news is is that it looks like the oil leak has stopped, if not then it looks as though the leak is coming from inside the engine, maybe behind the camchain, but so far no leak. Unfortunately it has not stopped any of the noises I have been hearing from the engine. The bike does pull off a little smoother and the engine too feels a little smoother shifting through the higher revs.

Oh I might add that I had no problem replacing the carbs this time. I started with the airbox connected up first nice and tight and then fitted it into the engine side, no hassles at all.

I also replaced my broken brake lever(thanks to Rod S.). The book too made it sound much more complicated than it really was, dead easy actually. Unfortunately I could not replace the clutches one as it was different to the one I have..

Then I filled up the engine with oil. Apparntly the engine was nearly out of oil and I hadnt noticed becuase the checking glass looked the same from when I got the bike. I had hoped that by doing this it would solve the noises I had been hearing but unfortunately not...will talk about it in another thread tho

Finally, out of sheer curiosity I took the slip on exhuast off my bike to see what it would sound like. THE FJ IS LOUD! and thats when I experienced a new sound from the engine..
