Above the article for the new zx14, claiming it to be the fastest production bike for 2012... Sounds quite terrifying

The 1/4 mile is impressive, as are the electronic aides and the potential for handling and braking. Great stuff.

Still get 80% of this performance from a stock FJ 1200. Is that enough for most ?

What about the BMW I thought it surpased the Busa as fastest bike.

Im curious to see what a 1985 FJ110 with a 1314 cc ported motor will do.

You are correct, the BMW bone stock will turn 9.57 vs the Kawi 9.75 and the Busa 9.86. The BMW is way lighter.

As the numbers posted by these bikes are real impressive, in the real world they are kinda meaningless.  On the street, a 10th of a second difference is not like a 10th at the track.  It all looks to be just bragging rights.

Plus, are these bikes as comfy on the long rides?  In other words, will the ZX-14 rider feel as fresh after all day in the saddle like our FJs?  And to purchase a nice FJ with all the whistles and bells is still far cheaper than the cost of one of these rocket ships.

I talked a buddy of mine into buying the zx-14 so I could ride it .

great bike except for the riding position ,you gotta stay above 100mph or it will cramp your back.

not real great for two up riding either.

the fj can keep up with it in the twisties but you gotta pin it.

It's hard to tell what the riding position is when you see one.

Too funny! But yes, it is all about bragging rights. Im not sure if they mean faster in top speed or drag race byt the BMW is the fastest production bike around a track and on the strip...

Although Kawasaki used to make rocket ships, so the connection the zx14 is quite understandable

This is kinda what I thought of the ZX-14. Just a big heavy streetbike in sportbike clothes with all motor and no suspension.  Just like the ZZR1200 I owned.



This bike, although beautiful to look at was the most uncomfortable, ill handling, non stopping, heavy bike I have ever owned.  Sure, it was damn fast, but when it came time to throw it into a corner, it became a religious event.  In other words, pray that it will turn before it went off the road in a blur.

I quickly sold it and began my quest for another FJ.
