Valve Stem size?

Hey guys a quick question.
My rear rubber valve stem is leaking so I'm gonna order a aluminum shorty valve stem.
What size do I need? The rear rim is off the 1997 YZF1000 (T-Ace).....I suspect the hole is ~11.0mm (.43") not sure so I thought I would check here.
I see online the valve stems come in different diameters.... I recall the skinny Italian Presta valve stems on my road bicycle.....

I guess I could go out to the garage and cut the stem off and measure the hole but moving that bike around with a flat 180 series tire is a bitch.

Thanks a bunch.

Paddy

[edit] The T-Ace does not require a special size stem, nothing special there,  but IIRC I think all Japanese bikes use the same universal size stem.

Get a standard ( car size ) 90 degree. I had the right angle stems fitted on my last tyre change and it makes pressure checking / inflating a breeze. Any tyre fitter will have them on the shelf. About $15.

Thanks Noel, yea, that's the plan....a 90* fitting up front where it's hard to squeeze my hand between the sharp edged 320mm rotors and the rim.

In the back I have plenty of room so I going to go with a straight shorty.

I'm ordering online with multiple choices of size....none of which are labeled "standard car size"....hence the question...Cheers!

Hi Pat,

Just measured one for you. Mine are 11.5mm (.453").
Standard car size is called a TR13 (which fits above).

Hope this helps.
