So its been deter, imed that my leak is from the cam chain gasket and possibly the valve cover gaskets.

On my way to work this morning I found something a little disturbing though.

Now its not really clear from the video but where it starts(the video) there is some white clear smoke coming from the engine.

Other symtpons and then short story to follow.

1. This smoke I have only noticed once before(2 weeks back) when I purposely drove the bike at WFO throttle and noticed that my leak occurs at such. This morning however I only slightly pushed the bike hard(as I have been tired of running the bike under 4krpm). The difference btween the 2 occasions is that the first time I saw it the smoke continued even after the engine was cut off. Today it stopped immediately when the engine was cut off. Then appeared again when I put the engine back on. I am assuming the smoke comes from the oil burning(though I thought oil had a dark black smoke)

Correct me if I am wrong.

2There was a popping sound from the exhaust, this has occured everyday at the end of a trip for the past week. I am told popping/misfiring only occurs when the exhaust has petrol in it, the baffle is out or the whole exhaust system is faulty and has had its days. It hasnt bothered me until now as my new exhaust is arriving today and will be fitted either today or tomorrow. With the prevelance of the smoke I am just concerned if its not something more.

The purpose of this update is just to see if there is any liklihood of another more serious problem at hand - if not I would be more than happy.

I need to know simply because I need to know what I am gonna be fixing because I am under the influence that if I replace the exhaust, repair the cam chain gasket and get some side scoops(or makeshift scoops ) my oil leak and exhaust problem will in effect be terminated. and I can then start on the other minor and uncomfortable problems and then move on to the nifty upgrades.

Anyway thanks for anybodies help, you guys always help me out a bunch and I hope that I too can one day offer some valid help to the board. For now I am slogging away at my manual(I was fortunate enough to recieve a soft copy of the Haynes manual) :dance2:

Burning oil is usually blue, ( but if its a synthetic, who knows? )
Water/steam 'smoke' like from a radiator is white
Way over rich is black.
