Tach stopped working

tach stopped working is there a way to fix or do I have to replace the whole cluster I checked the wiring to it all looks like its connected properly
its on a 1987 fj 1200 stopped working the other day is there something common with these bikes or maybe just had enough after 24yrs and 72thousand miles  . Thanks

check the grounds at the coils.... thats where the tach gets its signal from.

after all this time i would not be surprised if there was some corrosion that needs cleaning up.

Yeah, what frank said.

sometimes they just quit working for no reason . happened on my 86 and I checked everything and ended up replacing it.

see if someone has a spare in your area to try.

Ditto what Frank said.Yes you can just change the tacho by itself.A new one will be pricey.Might be easier to find a whole second hand cluster.Sometimes you see em on ebay.
