I'm thinking of crossing over to the 'other' side, and getting a Triumph Rocket III as my next bike. Anybody here have any experience with them?
Gonna be keeping my FJ, for sure, but I can't have my local Aussie friend having a bike with bigger capacity, and HP/torque stats than mine! (He's getting a Kawasaki Vulcan 2000)

a year ago I made the choice to once again buy a motorcycle (after 30 years of needing another one)..hard decision: should I grow some pubic hair on my chin and sit on what sounds like a woopie cushion while frying your right nut and shaking your brain loose, or go for the classic in-line four, easy to maintain, smooth power, comfortable ride...sporty style...I now own two FJ's    and loving every minute of it.

Hey, quick question..I typically give a quick courtesy wave to on-coming bikes..most reply in-kind..anyone notice the hard-core Harley drivers aren't so prone to return the gesture?

Follow one in a car/cage sometime.  I suspect you'll notice they wave, but only to their own kind.  They will not wave if it's a metric cruiser either.  I've seen this.  Always seemed petty to me.

Why would anyone care? Hell, I wave at anything with less than 4 wheels...if they don't wave back, big deal. Go ahead and wave. It's good karma.

There are some HD riders who are like that around these parts. When the wife and I are on the metric cruiser, it's easy to mistake it for a Harley coming from the other direction until it's too late.

I notice some of the big metric's are starting to resemble the HD more closely. I wonder if it might be a strain on the brain for the life style HD rider when they can't tell from a distance if they should wave or not. DOOH!  :dash2:

IMO Harley Davidsons are terrific and Americans should be proud of the motorcycling tradition that sits with them. I wouldnt buy a HD/Cruiser though they dont fit my riding needs and I couldnt be stuffed polishing all that chrome! I also squirm when I see new riders/old farts out there on there new HD's trying to pretend to be bad asses it really isnt a good look. As an Aussie I'd love to have a home grown iconic motorcycle such as HD and all we have here are our utes which even these days have morphed into tradies hot rods.

You know, I though more along these lines when Buel went the way of the Do Do, still the marketing of cool, as aposed to just being cool, anoys the hell out of me.

I am opposed to the HD culture but to each their own. I know Wally World appreciates the business but let me tell you about my personal
protective equipment. Knowing I may have to take a little nap in the street someday, I am glad I dont have any tattoo's I want people to
notice because I feel really cool in my icon jacket and full face helmet. On the wave thing I used to snub, but now I am waving again anyway.
The ol' SMILE it makes people wonder what your up to theory. I have noticed though that I tend to slow down for ricers and speed past the oily davidson. ps I don't like that song "one in every crowd"

If you're gonna get into a pissing match over power, you may as well win it.  I found an article that may prove interesting (and expensive!) for you...
