Slave cylinder is out, no clutch at all, I ordered a rebuild kit from the local yamaha dealership, I should receive it thursday. Once I rebuild it I am going to take it to yamaha shop, they said for 60 dollars they will go through it from top to bottom and tell me if I should have any concerns. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Welcome Chris.

You have come to the right place, for tips, tricks, and fellowship.  This is quite possibly, dare I say probably, the worlds foremost experienced collection of FJ-knowledge savvy folks, on the planet.

What did you ride lo, those many 15 years ago?

I had a Honda CB500. I loved that bike until i hit a deer on it. Since then I have started a life, wife, children, career, in the back of my mind I knew I was gonna be on two wheels again. My neighbor many years ago had an FJ that i loved but he always told me it was too much bike for me to handle, hence I never got to ride it, lol. I have always wanted one since then and my wife let me buy this one I found. Happy Fathers Day to me...lol.

Chris, Happy Father's Day indeed! Kudos on taking the initiative to rebuild the slave. Search on here (using the blank box in the upper right of the home page) for the reverse bleeding procedure so you don't go insane getting the air out.
Most shops are averse to working on older bikes, so I hope for your sake that dealer has someone who is old enough to have seen an FJ, elsewise your $60 will be essentially a paperwork fee. I suspect they'll either say it needs a ton of mondo expensive work, OR tell you it's fine without checking the important shit that can be easily remedied. Crossing my fingers for you that they prove me wrong, but I struggle to recall a post on here wherein an FJ went to the stealer and came back satisfactorily fixed or even properly diagnosed. If you have some time and initiative, the gurus on here will walk you through anything.

Welcome Chris,  :drinks: Nice looking bike. Maybe even the most beautiful model made. http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=2999.0

However, "the pinnacle year of FJ development" may be a slight exaggeration  :pardon:

Welcome to the site chris!

You're lucky to have someone in the parts dep't that you know and trust. :)
I just got off the phone, dumbfounded, last week with the parts dep't at the local Yamaha dealer who has been around for 25-30 years. They told me that the part I was holding in my hand did not exist and never did. I just said 'thankyou very much' and left it at that. It was an argument that I didn't have time for. :) lol. Randy at RPM came to the rescue again.

I've done the slave and bled the lines, so you should have NO problem if you do it yourself. Every answer is here on this site with the gurus to back it up.

Enjoy!
