Hey, I took my tank off the other day to set the idle and today my speedo and my odometer are not working. Any clues where to start?

Movement, at idle your speedo won't work and no miles are getting put on it.
Now your tach it works at idle, or should.
Do you mean tach?

I rode for a half hour this morning and neither the speedometer or the odometer changed. Mileage stayed the same speed stayed at 0. Was working yesterday. Loose cable, line? Where to begin?

I would pull the cable off at speedo drive, at the wheel.
Check to see if cable is broken. this is my guess? if cable is good.
Then put front wheel in air and spin wheel, look in speedo drive to see if anything is spinning.
If that checks out CAREFULLY take a drill, and spin the cable to see if speedo works.

Most likely inner cable broken or outer cable come off back of speedo. Visual check top end of cable at back of instrument cluster, if OK, undo at wheel and withdraw inner cable. Some only tighten top of cable finger tight because of difficult access for pliers but removal of horn ( 1 bolt, leave wires connected) will allow enough room to tighten with pliers or similar. They have been known to to eventually undo when only finger tight. Noel

Took the cable off at the wheel and it is broken. Thanks for the help.

As luck would have it, FJ speedo cables are still relatively cheap from the dealer.  So don't go panic buy one off of eBay until you check with Zanotti Motors or one of the other suppliers listed in the links section (we do have a links section, don't we?)
