differences between '87 fj1200tc and fj1200t?

i think i have a tc because of the outer vent control valve and the charcoal canisters.
since i don't live in cali, is there any way to circumvent this stuff?
also, is there any other differences?

I knew a guy with an 87' that had is CA stuff removed, but  don't know any details. It can be done.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I don't know anything about cali models, but I'm sure you can remove it. How legal it is in your area I don't know.
And yes there will be small differences in carbs, air box, exhaust.

Ok, I'll try.  I'm going by mammary 'cause I removed the CA stuff on my '84 a long time ago....
Larry, you have reviewed the on-line microfiche between the '87 1200tc and 1200t fuel tanks, correct? If not, do so.
You can see that the tanks have a different Yamaha part #'s, therefore the tanks are different.
On the tc tank (your tank) see part # 25, the check valve which threads into the bottom of the tank?
Remove that valve and seal that hole with a threaded set screw with sealed threads.
Remove all the hoses and charcoal cans.
Plug the vacuum ports on the #2 and #3 intake manifolds.
You are ok on the gas cap, it's the same part # on the tc and t fuel tanks.
However open the cap up and snip the flappers.

I looked over the microfiche, cuz that how i figured out i had a tc model.  i don't remember there being a check valve on the gas tank.  when i get get home, i'll have a look see. i know there's a vent solenoid attached to the bottom of the carburetors, that's not a t model. do i have to worry anything about jetting, etc.?

No, removing the vapor recovery system won't trigger a jetting change. You may wish to re-jet anyway. Due to EPA regs, FJ's ran lean in the oem guise. For the USA version, Adjustable needles (or shim oem) and some #40 pilot jets will help the stock FJ.
Adding a 4-1 pipe and Unipods will trigger (IMO) the need for larger main jets.

what about pipe p/n# 47?  it goes to the middle of the carb.  should i just remove that and plug the inlet on the carb?
