Thoughts on air correction jets

I've read a number of things here about changing the air correction jets in the carbs to help with the stumble common to 4-1 exhausts on our bikes.  A smaller jet size enriches the mixture and people have reported that it makes a big difference in the way an FJ runs with a 4-1.
Dynojet kits come with DJ144 size jets for this purpose.  This size corresponds with a Mikuni #135 according to the conversion chart.  I understand that these charts aren't exact, and a jump from 155 or 160 down to 135 sounds like a pretty drastic change.
I have easy access to Mikuni jets, but not DJs.  I'd like to have some of these jets on hand for when I'm dialing in my carbs.  Any thoughts on what size I should start with?  Also, I'd like to hear any good or bad experiences with changing the air correction jets.
Or does anyone have a set of the DJ144 jets that they're not using that they'd sell me?  Thanks.
