how to remove the front sprocket cover?

Anyhow, thanks the support, tips and discussion.  Everything is cleaned up, a new sprocket cover gasket happened to be in-stock at my local Yamaha dealer ($10), so I guess a happy ending.  This forum was a good resource for technical knowledge, a great way to meet some like-minded individuals and was entertaining to run down a few bunny-trails.

Thanks again..I look forward to some great FJ riding hopefully in a month or two.
