the fuel petcock on my 1984 fj1100 wont stop flowing gas. Even if it is on prime setting. I have installed an inline fuel shutoff valve to turn it off after i ride. After leaving the fuel shutoff valve open for an hour(engine not running), my carbs leak gas coming from the overflow hoses. My question is, is this normal?  :scratch_one-s_head:
Or am I having an overflow carb?

It's not supposed to stop flowing on prime.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

All other settings on the petcock (ON,RES,PRIME) wont stop flowing gas.

are you sure it has 3 settings? I think it has just on and prime

I guess it is possible that it has been changed. but you should take a closer look.

is it vacuum operated? if so and it still flows fuel in the on position (not running)  than it is a problem.

but remember when you disconnect the fuel hose it can still run gas for a second or two before stopping.

I would say fix this before worrying about your carbs

Replace the o-ring on the shutoff plunger.  5mm x 2mm
