My oldest son has been working on getting a new bike for the last month and finally found what he was looking for.
He is a die hard Honda rider, and currently rides a 919.
His new purchase is a,still new at the dealer, 2009 CBR1000RR Repsol.
All I had to do was drive the 1 hour to the dealer and get it back home just after dark.

I think it has 0.7 mile on it and it looooks FAST!
Still not as comfy as my FJ, but I have been on him if he'd be up tothe Colorado Rally!!
I hope he comes with me.

NOW, Where the hell is our warm weather!!?

...... That is a bad ass bike,.... just one thing, I hope he is very careful on it... [does he do stunts??] If he has been riding for a while, that's good.
...I have seen, to many times were young guys goes out and gets a new sportbike, not knowing what kind of power it has and ends up getting hurt or worse.

I understand your concern, and I hope he will do well with this bike.
I started him out on a Honda dirt bike at the age of 12.
Then by the time he was 14, he was riding a Yamaha Radian.
Last summer he bought his 919.
And now he has this one.
We constantly talk about rider safty and the dangers of riding HiPo motorcycles.
I can only hope with the years of riding with me, teaching him along the way, that he will be a safe rider.
I do insist on him wearing his gear before taking off anywhere.
Trust me, I do my share of worrying, but I'm always there for him and try to be his voice in the back of his head, to think twice, when the tempation to do something stupid comes to mind.

I thought I saw an FJ tail in a couple of those photos! :good2: You guys don't have a drag race scheduled yet, do you?

NICE BIKE. Sounds like you have the bases covered. Those bikes are really powerful and very light - usually a bad combination.

I'm sure we will do some roll on comparisons, but I have no doubt he will walk away from my FJ with ease.
We were just talking and figured he is a total 150 lbs lighter and 50 HP stronger than me, so the math pretty much speaks for itself.

Yeah, but even with him being a fraction of your age, see who's ready for another 400 miles at the end of an 8 hour ride.  :-)

Congrat's Leon, yeppers she's a beaut. if you don't mind my asking, how much did he get it for??

I think that the oem Repsol fairing and tank will be a collectors item so.... Start looking now for some scruffy beat up '09 CBR fairings and tanks and change out that new oem bodywork. Put the oem Repsol body work in bubble wrap and tuck it away in your garage.

Why?

Because as soon as the weather warms up, your son will be attending track school (right?) and when he drops the bike at school, he won't feel so bad when he scuffs up the ratty tank and body work.

How many days until Colorado?  Cheers!

Pat, I think it was $11,700.
Thats a great idea about the plastics, too. (the tank is also plastic).

Colorado can't come soon enough, cripes, it snowed another 4 inches last night and my driveway has turned into a mud hole!

David- I totally agree with you.
That CBR will be a blast to ride and feel the power, but shes just a little to low in the handle bars for any kind of distance riding for this guy.
The FJ will be a better bike when it comes to that, but I'm happy for him and he' the one that's gotta love it, not me!
