I had a great 80 mile ride through Angles Crest WHY today with only a little traffic of the 4 wheeled (lane blocking) kind. However, I noticed at the end of my ride, I had a worn out front tire. This will be a first for the 10+ years of riding my 86' FJ, wearing out the front with very little visible wear on the rear. I no longer commute or engage in Iron Butt rides like I used to so I guess I should not be surprised with wearing out the sides (or th efront first) instead of the tops.

I put the tires on as a pair about 3500 miles ago and was very pleased with the feel and cornering. A vast improvement over the Dunlop K591 (I think), (Harley tires) I used when driving long distances. With the Dunlops I rode out the edge of the tires (no chicken strips). With the Avons the profile is more rounded and my riding no longer meets the tire edges. I wore out the edges of the front tire leaving a distinct "V" shape. The AV45 seems very soft for the heavy FJ. I know some you dislike the Avons and others will tell me to get off my lazy unmodified ass and upgrade to 17" (and I will when I can afford it). I just thought some of you still running OEM 16" wheels might want some info on the only radial that fits.

That help?  Also, I had the AV46ST (or whatever it is) on the rear of my FJ.  Didn't like it, took forever to get warm and spun a lot until it got there.  Didn't last long for me.

Andy, that is great! It is what I wanted to do the first time. For the future, how can I load pictures right into the message like that?

Looks like the ST tires are for extended mileage tires, that must equal longer warm up.
