Thanks eveyone, I'm looking forward to meeting eveyone.

I'm just west of Mooresville by Lake Norman.

I went for a 300 mile ride last Saturday with the FJ in the NC highlands. Great ride, comfortable bike for most of the trip. I was on ride for about 9 hours (on and off). I learned allot for sure. I love the feel of the bike, easy to maneuver, good looks (turned heads everywhere) smooth power curve etc.
I also learned I will need taller bar risers and possibly a taller or more protective wind screen for the cold days. I came off the Blacks at about 7:30 so by the time I got to Hickory and back to Mooresville it was low 50's. The knees were frozen but the rest of me was good for the most part. I did get the neck/head area a bit cold as I had the vents open on the helmet but couldn't close them while on the move in traffic.

The brakes worked great, at least for the time being, motor ran good but needs some carb work off idle.It possibly be carb sync and lash time from some of the other posts I have read. No other issues at this time so I am very thankful to the previous owner being straight up about how the bike ran before I got it.

Anyway, if anyone would like to go for some rides let me know. I'm always up for new roads to explore.

Mell00,

You've got some beautiful country to explore on your FJ.
As for your frozen knees - you can keep them warm by putting your feet onto the passenger pegs.  The vents in the side covers allow engine heat to escape there, so its an ideal place to warm your hand or knees.

Disclaimer: Use this info only when traffic and road conditions allow.  Removing your feet or hands from their "intended" control positions may reduce your ability to properly respond during an emergency.  Should you choose to use this information, it is entirely at your own risk, I am not advocating you do anything that may be harmful or illegal in your state.

Cheers,
Arnie
