Just started riding lately I did ride back in 82-83 but just got back in the sabble. It seems that most riders out here either nod or give a low wave,I have been reading this thread and i dont know what I should do know. Most people I see do the left hand wave.I dont see either being mandatory but if you want to then go for it.I am on the water all the time and every one there waves when you go by. :flag_of_truce:

Lets look at the NOD and how it evolved.

England, New Zealand, Japan, Australia etc drive on the left.
That means when you approach another vehicle, it is on your right hand side.

Bit hard to wave with your right hand, no?

thats why i have a vista cruise on my FJ .... when i'm passing a bunch of harleys i lock the throttle and give them the right hand wave.....

i guess here in America we are a bit better at problem solving eh ?   :good2:

To be truthful I had to get used to these gestures again after being off a street bike for maybe the last fifteen years.I got the FJ on the road and running last fall.On it's maiden voyage someone waved and it all came back to me.I don't even notice it happening around me when driving in a car.I don't remember it being so common.I do tend to ride with my left hand off the bars, and sometimes I think it would be easier to just keep waving until the next bike (or scooter) comes towards me.About the time I get my hand back on the bar someone waves again.Maybe there are a lot more bikes on the road than before.

QuoteThat machine is , in my opinion, cool.
How could you not have a huge smile when riding it?

Thanks.  I usually have a good smile whenever I ride anything on two wheels.  What always gets my attention is the people smiling when they see me on it.  It attracts a lot of attention.

Do not argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
