FJ expertise in San Jose CA?

New to the forum and the bike...  I bought a '90 that's in great shape, but appears to have dirty/lean carb issues just off idle.  I'm experienced with multi-carb sports cars and would like to work this issue out myself, but i also am very short on time and want to ride more than fix right now.  The forum points to a clean, upsize pilots, and balance as the fix.  However there are other interesting options like Dynojet, emulsion tube changes, shimming, etc.

I'd like to find a local expert (non-stealership pref) to help diagnose and very likely do the fix.  Anyone know of a good independant in San Jose CA?

   I am over in Modesto and can handle all of your carb needs from rebuilding to parts. I have an ultrasonic cleaner used for cleaning and stock all of the replacement parts required for the FJ.

Is this something we could do ride-in/ride-out?  Modesto's a haul for me if I would need to drop it off.

Frank If that's your goal, here's the recommendation: get the parts from Randy & David Raforth and do it 1x, do it right and then keep riding it, and it will stay RIGHT.  I've had the carbs off mine so many times I'd like to install a Zipper!  IMHO, forget about ANYBODY ELSE making your FJ run like you'd like it to run.

You need #40 pilot jets (assuming stock exhaust), and a Raforth® screw kit and some flavor of manometer to sync the carbs after reassembly.  Clean as David recommends (don't be intimidated by separating the carbs, no big deal), put in ALL the parts David ships.  Adjust & enjoy.  It will take 1 long afternoon and you'll have a great running bike.

If you pay some to 'do it', they're not gonna give a sh$* (Randy excepted!), they'll have the bike for days and you'll be out >$4-500 (est) and it's probably not gonna run like you expect.
