The local Yamaha shop here in St. Joseph (McBrides Yamaha) had a couple pictures on the wall that always interested me.

Mike and Dave McBride were kind enough to allow me to scan them, and here they are:

A bit dated, still, pretty cool IMHO.

I was fortunate enough to of met the owner/builder/rider last year, he was working on a turbo system for the bike before cancer took him earlier this year.

His enthusiasm for the machine, as well as the honest opinion of the McBrides, were instrumental in my decision to purchase my FJ1200.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

I forgot to ask at the shop yesterday how fast he went. Earlier this week, I met with a gentleman who was working with him on a Turbo for an other attempt on the salt, he did not remember exactly either, said 180, 190 - did not break 200, that he was sure of.

Still that is awfully fast for the eighties.
