Hi all, anyone know a quick and mostly painless way yo attach the spring to the center stand?
Obvious I know but is there a trick to it?

Pat Conlon

Good question.

I use nickels in the stretched spring to get it off and back on, however to get a collapsed spring back on?

I guess you have to use a lever to pry the spring open and slide it on....just a guess.

I'd love to hear how it's done...

I use a long skinny screwdriver. Loop the spring end over the screwdriver close to the handle - place the screwdriver blade on the post (or loop) of the center stand.  Use a pry motion to cause a slope towards the center stand then tap the spring closer with a small mallet.  I can usually wrangle the spring on after a few tries..

Wow. This is rather a pain.
I am determined to get it on there.
Thanks for the feedback!
Picked up a barn bike Saturday.
I am excited to get into it!

Got it. Wow. Just stretched it with s screwdriver and the rest was strong language. Thanks for the input.

Clamp one end of the spring in the vise and bend the other end enough to insert a nickle in the first thread.  Bend it the other way and do the same thing.  Keep going until the spring has a dollars worth...or so.
