Dont know what caused this  likely my doing though. I polished up up a set of stainless exhaust pipes a couple of years ago and fitted them to my 84. Re-did the heat shield on inside of fairing and fitted the pipes to non original collector box...don't know from what year but advertised to be 84's.. mufflers fit fine. Everything went together with little trouble, so it was surprising to see on both sides of belly pan long bulges in plastic outlining the track of the outside pipes.  Are the the later belly skirts designed differently for the later pipes? what do you guys think I did wrong?

86-95 belly pans are all the same. The 84-85 are the only years with a different belly pan.

The collectors, mufflers, and maybe even the headers themselves, are different between some years.

Ahh so Possibly the 86 pipes are to go with 86 belly and this is where it went wrong?

The collector and mufflers have different part numbers. I do not know how different if at all they are. I know the later year 1200s have a different angle coming out of the collector.
