Hi all
charlie is the name and a post work (retired ) tragic for older and often unloved motorcycles

ive moved from a reasonably close by capitol city to the country a few years back , with a shed ...(yipeee)

Durring my life  i have owned many varied and interesting rides , although , like many, more or less banned from riding whilst the "tin lids" (kids) were growing .

in the last few years i have restored and ridden quite a few 4 cylinder bmw s, helping folks with issues , and having amassed quite a few parts and pieces for the same , from mates who have left or moved on from that particular model of machine .

Just recently a newish friend has dumped 2 old fjs at my door after a forced removal from a local property , originally his bikes , sold to a relative , and then abandoned and left in a shed .

one is mostly there although damaged fairings etc , the other well needs a heap of work , also damaged or non existant fairings , corrosion is everywhere .

so the journey begins with the older corroded piece of unloved machinery , an 84 fj1100 50k000362

lets see what happens eh ?

Nice part of the country up there, glad you have a shed, hope it's a big one.
So is your shed in the east or west of New England, like Armidale or Narrabri or maybe the south like Tamworth?

The FJ1100 (they are the best ones) is younger than mine by about 600, Aug 84 stamped on my plate

I'm still close to one of those capitol cities.

Glen Innes , a dang cold as hell place to be , (on many home commings from far away trips over the years , I always thought what a cold bloomin hole it was ) and now I live here , must have rocks in me head ....but it was the cheapest accomodation I could find  at the time ...so ....one acclimatises ?

I guess so mate , already have a group of friends  in both the beemer k bike mob up here , and getting to know quite a few of the restorers in the various clubs around the district , inverell restorers , glen sport car club ....etc ...etc , and building a respected reputation .
I have already posted a couple of progress pics in the facebook fj group , perhaps youve seen it ?
Hope to meet in the near future .

Thanks for the links , although freight can sometimes be a deciding factor on price and availability out here in the colonies ....lol
but great to see a supplier that supports the marque , I may well be making an order , one of these days , all good so far I have bought absolutly bags of stainless stuff over the last 8 years or so , and find it one way to make a gleaming restoration and serviceable , out of a piece of crap .as in before.
Stainless and antisieze is more or less in my veins these days ...(grin)

a poor old piece , left in a damp shed for years and years after a drop event (crushing the fairings and a cheapo fix after,) to ride it some more ...




and after , now with several thousand kilometers travelled

erm ....when i can figure out how this site "hosts* a picture or two ...or is it just a drop in from another hosted site ?

Be careful and don't let the restoration bug take hold — modifier's anonymous is much more fun and thrilling!

Seriously, the FJ responds extremely well to most common type modifications.  Brake and wheel and suspension bits are the logical first improvements - and not too difficult to get 50% more power (or better) out of engine while maintaining reliability  :good2:
