Hello, has anyone her ever replaced the sidecover black foam that helps prevent vibration?
Just wondering what you used. I would think it should be a t least fuel vapor compatible being so close to the carbs.
Thank you.

I have not but would imagine a 1" mineral wool insulation should be fine as long as you don't plan on riding in the rain. It has a high fire rating so heat is not an issue, if it got a little damp it would be ok but you don't want to get it soaking wet.. Some spray adhesive should keep it on

Don't think mineral wool would hold up very long. I installed mineral wool in all 11,800 sqft of the walls of my house. It's fine stuffed in between the studs. But don't think it would hold up to the wind or vibration. But wow don't know why you would use anything else  to insulate your home. I would think any black foam would work. But I've never replaced any of it on my fjs.

G'day and Welcome Scrid,

I used 1" thick black fish tank filter foam, came in a sheet form and I just cut to shape, plenty squishy and air still get through it. Used spray on contact adhesive.
Still there after a few years

The foam on the inside of the side covers was NOT used as an anti vibration component, but as a sound absorbing measure.
