Hyabusa swingarm

I maybe opening up another can of worms but, as much as I like the look of the EXUP arm its proving to be too much of a PTA to use, so, Hyabusa arm and Thunderace wheel on their way.
I've read that the arm will fit using spacers and the FJ/GSX spindle spacer to allow the use of the stock diameter FJ swingarm spindle.
The main reason for the change of direction is shock fitment, I could just about get away with using a lighter spring so it clears the brace in the EXUP arm, but I want to be able to ride the bike and don't want it wallowing around. So Busa arm it is.
I've also read on these hallowed pages that to line up front and rear sprockets, I need to have 0.195" machined from the rear cush sprocket mount face. In the post there were several mentions of the VFR1000 front sprocket, XJR sprocket cover etc etc, so the question is 'Do I need any other modification other than the machining?'

Also be aware not all manufactures/models center the swingarm in the frame —- double check the Hayabusa swingarm mounts in the center of the frame

+3 yep, be careful....make sure the center line of the front and back tires (or rims) line up dead nuts. Align the wheels first, worry about the chain alignment second.

From what I read the owner centred the arm in the frame with equal length spacers but there was no mention of how he corrected the sprocket alignment.
I'll mount the arm and wheel first and measure before touching the sprocket carrier.

Loosely fitted the Busa arm yesterday, after reading many topics on swaps it's probably the easiest swingarm to fit. At 225mm at the pivot with just the stock FJ pivot spacer protruding there's really nothing to modify, sure you need some spacers knocking up but no need to mess around finding different bearings etc and no cutting required.
The shock mount on the relay arm sits virtually central in the shock tunnel and the only area of concern is around the bracing. It looks to have about 5mm clearance from the OD of the spring (88mm spring on the WP) and the gap increases as the arm is lifted.

As with the EXUP arm I'm not sure it would fit quite so easily with stock footrest hangers etc but this is no problem for me

Had a set of 107mm dog bones delivered yesterday, fitted them and with the bike on the centre stand the rear wheel on the floor the bolted straight on, perfect, the Busa arm could have been made for the 3CV..........

But not the 1TX

The top mount is slightly lower and or further out. I put the frame on my work bench, fitted the arm and shock went to fit the dog bones and the spring hit the casting on the arm, puzzled (hadn't expected any differences) I refitted the arm to the other bike and as I said it fitted perfectly.

My own fault as I should have checked it before powder coating, although I read no reference to top shock mount on any post re shock mount when op's changed their linkage to relay arm and dog bones with the later swingarms.

No doubt if I use the stock 3cv arm it will all bolt together even with the longer shock, but that would be boring........

Grinder out this morning and see if I can make the Busa arm fit.

Oh, and I trial fitted the EXUP arm again and that's worse, the spring resting on the casting for the needle rollers where the dog bones attach to the swingarm.

Apart from that everything is going swimmingly..................

Grinder did the trick, wound on some preload to lower the spring height then kept removing enough material until it all went back together and cleared the spring.

Spacers arrived today, 30 x 10 OD/length 20 x 7 16 x 3 bore (measurements in mm)

Not fitted yet but offered up, fits nicely between swingarm end caps and frame.
