chin spoiler mounting "repair"

My chin spoiler is in very rough shape and a previous owner did quite a hack job replacing the bolts that hold it on which led to the lower part vibrating and breaking off. One was repaired when I got it, the other one broke on me. Fortunately it was hanging on by a "thread" and I didn't lose it.

This was his "repair" of the bottom bolts. No bushing on the bolt, wrong bolt and a huge washer..
The other side was the same..except there was no washer..

I ordered 2 new proper bolts from partzilla, unfortunately the bushings are no longer available.
In searching for thin rubber washers on amazon I found silicone washers in various sizes in black and white.
There were white ones a bit smaller than the head of the bolts and you can barely see them.

I ordered some and made new bushings out of steel brake line. Hit them with some paint to keep them from rusting and the finished product.
Looks much cleaner in my humble opinion.

Nice work  :good2:

I'm lucky that there are suppliers I can use to get all manner of shouldered bolts, washers and fairing bolt kits here.

Good luck with the rest of your "corrections" to the previous owners' repairs.

thanks. I'm getting near the end of the list.
I've noticed that about the UK.
the Repair Shop is one of my favourite shows and the parts you folks can get and the specialty business's there is quite amazing.

Since I joined and became active in the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club here, I've found even more small specialist suppliers for all the little parts we need.

There's a few downsides to living here, but boy are there upsides if you're into old bikes  :good2:
