Hello everyone,

It has been awhile since I last posted when we were trying to give away our crashed 1989 FJ1200 a few years ago in Alaska.  We recently picked up a ratty 1991 FJ1200 that requires a lot of TLC.  I have the clutch apart and am replacing the plates as well as the clutch boss (part number 36Y-16371-00-00) as it is broken.  I ordered the plates, but can't find the clutch boss online anywhere in Canada or in the United States.  It seems to be discontinued by Yamaha and other sites I have visited are sold out.  A couple of sites say they are in stock, but when you add it to your cart, it then says not available.  Does anyone have an extra one laying around in decent shape that they are willing to sell and ship (if you do, please send me a message).  Please let me know if anyone knows of a business in Canada or the USA that actually has one of these in stock.  In the meantime, I am going to try calling around to some local junkyards.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Randy sent me an input shaft with ALL the teeth on first gear (I think) sheared off!  They are a bit "hard" on the clutch and trans at times!

I did try them already and they are out of stock as well.

Gary,

I checked the stock and we got two more in this morning. They have been added to the website.

That will be the last two new ones we will have to offer. They have been discontinued and we got the last two in North America according to our Yamaha guy.

I signed up to be notified by email with RPM on when they came back in stock.  Got an email about an hour ago saying they were back in stock.  I called to confirm and they just got two in from Japan.  I ordered one.  Unfortunately they were back at the list price of $149.99 (and not the sale price that was listed yesterday of $94.99) and they couldn't honour the sale price as prices have gone up. Oh well, need it to get the FJ on the road.  Thanks to anyone that was looking to help out.

Sorry, Kevin unfortunately the price of everything in the world today is unstable. It makes it very difficult to maintain prices when the price can change daily. In the old days, manufactures would hold pricing for year. That started changing about 20 years ago when the computer eliminated parts catalogs and printed price sheets.

Case in point. We also own a 120+ year family bakery. We buy eggs in 15 dozen boxes. Only a year ago I could get 15 dozen for around $36.00 which was about .20 per egg. I was at the supplier today and the price is $107.99 which equals .60 per egg. Let not get started on butter. The supplier started a sale today dropping the price from $5.99 per pound to 2.95 per pound. I bought 10 case or 300 lbs. I went there yesterday to hopefully buy then, since it was Sunday but I had to wait until today to purchase. They had 20 case yesterday. I asked them to pull me the 10 cases yesterday which they did. When I got there this morning at 9am they had already sold out. I am glad I had them hold those 10 for me...

Back to Yamaha, they have pulled the plug on the FJ parts and they are going to be getting more and more difficult to obtain which will drive up the price no matter who is selling what. Especially hard parts like these that do not have aftermarket support.

And just like that, they are both sold.

In the future, we will be breakdown some blown up engines and hope to have a few used.

I realized when the fuel petcock on one of my FJ1100's failed that one day I might not be able to get critical parts. I bought two of the last round petcock gaskets left in yamaha's system. After that when I heard RPM had their last 100 complete petcocks left I bought two of them for the future. I broke a chain up at the 2021 rally in Oregon and broke both the upper and lower engine case. Now I have that engine stored as a source of future parts.

No worries, I get it, everything thing seems to be going up in price nowadays.  Thanks for getting it shipping on the same day as the order was placed, appreciate it.  Going to try to get it installed for my father before my flight out this weekend.
