Where do I find parts?

I bought an 84 with no paperwork, and it's been sitting in my friends garage all winter. I wanna build it back up to running and maybe have a fun toy this summer (hopefully). I'm noticing there are a lot of weird parts that I need, that I'm having a hard time finding on ebay. An airbox and a new gas tank, as well as cleaning out the carbs again and the bike should be up and running. Where are good places to look for parts outside of ebay and this site? I also need new lines and some other little things, but getting it running is step 1. Any info would be appreciated, I've never owned one of these, but I've built a handful of bikes in the past. I've done some minimal research and from what I can tell, 84 was a weird year, cause 85 they changed some stuff

Welcome to the campfire!  Pull up a seat, bring your favorite beverage, relax and be among friends. I ride a 1985 FJ1100, mostly OEM.

You may have some luck on eBay, but for an '84, I'd say take what you can find, no matter the source.

Lately FaceBook Marketplace competes with Craigslist, but I seldom use Craigslist, and I never use FaceBook.
With any online purchases, of course, buyer beware. 

Lotsa scammers will have "exactly" what you want (but not really); they take your money, and vanish.  One buyer has the seller take pix with the seller holding a hand sign such as "hang loose" or "peace" next to the item, to verify that they really have one to sell.  I might want to see a specific playing card there next to the gadget being sold, instead of hand signals.  Still, it's a risk to buy on-line.

If I wanted carb work done beyond my few talents, RPM is the only source I know and trust.

Unless you want a fully-stock bike, air pods will probably be easier to get than an air box.  RPM, again.

What is wrong with the gas tank?  We can tell you about rust removal and inner sealant coatings, but if you do need a new tank, well, best wishes and happy hunting.  You may get what you want right here, but elsewhere, you just never know.  Long-time members with many posts are usually a safe way to find a fair deal.

Thanks for the input! I was kind of avoiding doing pods cause I usually don't have great luck with them, but I might just have to hold that. The gas tank is... pretty rough. Massive dents everywhere, barely intact inside, it's really just better to get a new one, for the same price, or cheaper, than I would end up fixing it. I don't really have much access to the bike at the moment to see specifically it needs, but RPM might just be the place to go if not ebay. Thank you for the help!

Not Doug,
RPM is definitely the place to begin your search for parts. Don't fear running the UniPods from RPM. FJ 1100/1200 engines and carbs get along with them just fine. I have had a set of them on my 1993 FJ 1200 for years and it pulls cleanly from just above idle to redline every time. Re-jetting recommendations are available here on the forum and from RPM.
