Sooo... Yamaha parts listed the fairing (cowling) until a few weeks ago.  Now that I have saved the ducketts necessary, it is NLA...

I can get the un-drilled, un-painted one from Europe, yes.  But I am laz..er..efficient and would just like to bolt the poor thing on.

It is to the point where I am considering buying another bike just for the !@#$ plastics.  (But I am not there yet.)

My scoops are good, my tank has some bag rash, but is OK, even the belly scoop is good, but that main fairing is a jumble of JBWeld, aluminum stiffiners, pop-rivets, and horseshoes.

If you have a 1989 silky white fairing(cowling), and you are ready to stop having it occupy shelf space at your place, I am interested.

If you have all of the body bits and don't want to break up the set, I am interested.

If you have the part in question and need to find a new home for your pet python "Mr. Snuggles", I am interested...

If you have one that is "less than perfect", but is complete and not a mess like mine is, I am interested.

Thanks in advance.

The entire plan hinged on the natural curiosity of potatoes.

Guy,

I would contact Yamaha directly, and see if they had maybe one unit still left somewhere, possibly in an unexpected color.
The worst they can say is No.

SearchTempest will search all of the Craigslists in the USA.

Search on eBay, too.
Do a Search by part name(s), and do a separate search by Part Number(s).
Beware of scammers who have just what you need, maybe with pix lifted from the Internet.
In those cases, something like (hate to say it) PayPal might be a good idea.
With some luck, a long-time forum member here may be able to make the purchase locally for you.
If you have every part, you might consider a full coating of fiberglass mat on the insides, filling cracks, sanding and painting to suit.
Not the easy way, but it may be a good answer for you.
Happy hunting.
Cheers,
Red

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

There is a NOS fairing on Ebay right now...

Buuut it is black with the red/blue stripe.

I really am disinclined to change the color... so I am holding out for a bit...

There is a good tank and side plastics as well... but it adds up to a whole bike.

And there I am... looking at whole bikes.

Thanks so far.

Keep watching on the F/B FJ groups, there are always parts coming up for sale.

I've just picked up a great fairing and belly pan (chin spoiler/scoop/fairing in the USA) for £50 all in from a F/B FJ group. Cosmetically, the fairing is pretty much perfect, with original paintwork and decals. It needs a couple of very minor mounting repairs, but the seller gave me the broken off tabs so I can re-fix them myself with hot staples and Supafix  :good2:
