Good evening.
Curious if wheels from a later model fj1200 would be a direct fit for my 86? I've noticed the wheels changed a little in the later models.
Thanks!

No, on the front rim....(without changing your forks, axle, calipers and rotors over to the '89+ FJ)
Yes, on the back rim....but there are much better options available other than the narrow 3.5" wide x 16" oem FJ back rim

Rear wheel is yes, as long as it not an ABS wheel. The front is NO after 87', the brake rotor and calipers will not fit properly. However, you can fit different forks and get a 17 wheel. Radials are the Bomb. Convert the rear to 17 and tire choices are plentiful.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Thank you guys. That was what I figured. I've read up on wheel options from other models but not on swaps with later year FJ's. I agree radials are much better, tires on my ZX were super sticky but I really like to keep a bike as close to factory minus small improvements as I can. I have noticed these bias tires can't hold the road. Burnouts are kinda fun even when not trying.

Motorcycles = Tires, tires, tires....
Modern radial tire technology is in a different galaxy than the '70's-'80's bias ply offerings.
