Can I remove the helmet lock without damaging it?

Occasional lurker here with a question.  I am trying to get my 86 FJ1200 back on the road after sitting dormant in my ex-wife's garage for many years.  I retrieved the bike and have somehow manage to lose the key.  I know that I can remove the top of the triple clamp and then drill out the shear bolts to get to the ignition switch and if I'm lucky, there will be a code on the backside of the switch from which a key can be cut, or if not I can take the switch to a locksmith to cut a new key.  However, I'm wondering if it would easier to just remove the helmet lock and have a key cut from the helmet lock.  Is there an easy way to remove the helmet lock cylinder without damaging it?  Thanks for any advice.

Seat lock cylinder removal when locked? I'm not aware that it's possible.
Years ago I had a situation with a gas cap lock. I called a mobile locksmith and for $65 he came out and picked the lock to open the gas cap. Like your seat lock, once it's open, solutions get easier.
