Yesterday, I found out that this Vintage Rally was on today, only a 10 minute ride from home, so I just couldn't resist heading there to see what was on show and to wander the autojumble stands in the hope of picking up some bargains.

It was a glorious morning weather-wise, so I set out early to beat the crowds and managed to have a good look around and be ready to leave by around 11am - which gave me plenty of time to ride around our local area and get some (more) supermodel shots of the old FJ in picture postcard English summer scenery - I never seem to tire of taking pics of my girl (much like if she was Claudia Schiffer).

When I arrived, as all the parking was on grass and with my raised rear, my sidestand is prone to digging into the ground worse than most - so I found a tree and put the stand on a root (brains, you see  :good2:) - which also helped me to get on and off the bike, now that my dodgy hip is playing up more and more every day !. Close by was the only other FJ I saw there.

.

The rally was held in the grounds of Stanford Hall, a beautiful local Georgian Manor House with extensive lawned grounds.

There were many great and some "unusual" bikes there, but very few Yamaha's of any variety and the majority of the bikes were pre FJ' time. Here are a couple of photos of my favourites (including the Norton Rotary, which looked as if they'd raised a Yamaha parts bin for some of the bodywork and ancillaries  :sarcastic:)

'89 FJ 1200 3CV - owned from new.
'89 FJ 1200 3CV - no engine, tank, seat....parts bike for the future.
'88 FJ 1200 3CV - complete runner 2024 resto project
'88 FJ 1200 3CV - became a race bike, no longer with us.
'86 FJ 1200 1TX - sold to my boss to finance the '89 3CV I still own.

And additional photo's of some of the more unusual/rare/interesting bikes (Silk/Brough/James/NUT/MZ etc), both on show and for sale (I almost made a bid on the CB 360 G5 - and saw what I believe to be the most ridiculous rear carrier I've ever seen on a bike, which will likely aid wheelies).

Those are great pictures Dean!  We had a single rotor Norton Wankel engine in the Sikorsky Cyper UAV.  It was cool.
