......My FJ with FZ1 parts

...... When I decided on making the changes/upgrades to my FJ. It was obvious that I would need the newer parts. So, I went out looking for a ...Yamaha... sport bike. I found a 2001 FZ1 that had motor (water) damage for $300.00

The front forks- I used my Dremel 4000 with small pieces of square sandpaper to remove the outer clear-coat. And then used   Mothers Polish.

Then I replaced the stock springs with a Traxxas spring kit.

With my Dremel , I honed out the FJ triple tree, for the FZ1 forks.

    The wheels- using my Dremel, I removed the factory paint. Then wipe-it-down, with rubbing alcohol. then used a roll of black electrical tape. and slowly walked the tape around the out-side of the wheel.  then using masking tape to cover the rest of the tire. Then primer and painted.

Installed Galfer disc wave brake rotors with Sixity brake pads.

The brake calipers- removed the paint with my Dremel, painted black and used Mothers to polish the front of the calipers.   

The handle bar controls- I took the radiator fan from the FZ1 and cut it down and mounted it to the frame, right above the motor. then I ran the fan wires, up to the high-beam switch.

So, now, I am using the turn signal switch, for the headlight switch.  The left side switch is now low beam. the middle switch is now.. Off.. and the right switch is now high-beam.

The horn switch is still the horn switch, but I exchanged the stock horn with a Beep Beep Roadrunner horn ($80.00 for that thing).

With the FZ1 throttle controls and FS carbs. I had to order a new custom made throttle cable.

Many years ago, I was riding my Schiwinn ten speed, thru my neighborhood and saw a big portable fan (on a stand)
in some ones trash. So, I pick-it up, and took it home. I thru the bad fan away, and bolted the FZ1 radiator coolant reservoir to the top of the stand, So, now it is the gas tank for the carbs., while synchronizing.... pic is in the misc. gallery.

The last thing,... I do not know why I wanted to do this. I took the top part of the Fj tail section and mounted to the bottom part of the FZ1 tail section..... pic is in the misc. gallery

Brook - looking through your pics - was the red before the blue?  Or have you painted it?

How's the back doing?

..... Hi fj1289, The first paint job was white, grey and black....Then red...now, blue with white stripes.

About my back,   Thanks for asking,  I have had my seventh back surgery.   (rods and screws from L5>T10)

And I can honesty say, It has slowed me down.
