Hey All,

Thanks to your wealth of knowledge I resurrected an 89 fj1200 that had been sitting for 15years.  I've used the services of RPM a couple of times and I'm very happy with them.  The bike is stock with 49k kms on it so aprox 5 miles. Due to sitting in an open barn uncovered it was covered in green moss.  My daughter and I spent several nights scrubbing the dirt and touching up the rust.  Mechanically it runs good although it needs a clutch. She slips at high rpms. I'm really going to embrace the touring side of this bike.   I installed some ugly European pipes on it today with little modification. ( freebies ) There is a Corbin seat in the mail I'll see eventually that has a removable back rest and then I'm going to look for  a 3piece luggage set.  She's going to get painted pearl white, frame and wheels grey, motor black eventually.  Everything shiny will get polished. I have enjoyed lurking since May and I've learned a ton so again, Thank you

Welcome Mr. Dirt. Looks like found a great home and stable mate for your other Yamaha.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Welcome to the party Dirt............hope you're not going to copy Fred with the all white Casper look, I thought no dhe's got a patent on that.....and anyway, you already have the best colour scheme on a FJ  :bomb:

You're right about the exhaust, do you know what bike it was designed for ?

I'm sure you'll love the FJ for touring, we all do  :good2:

Ride long, ride safe.

I was thinking Casper white yes.    I don't love the stock colour scheme, it's ok but will see how I'm feeling after the tear down.  The pipes came from a Ducati dealership.  If I can clean up the old cans that came off the bike they may go back on but black and rust...  I just needed a break from that.

Yamadirt,

I see some riders here who have simply polished the pipes with good results, bun I'd want a buffer to do that much work.  Some have powder-coated the pipes in white, clear, and other choices, and they are happy with their choices.  Looks like you have a good start, there.  Welcome aboard!
.
Cheers,
Red

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

I have recently painted my 1990 a solid Pearl White.

Hey Derek. Thanks for the welcome. I'm in Langley.  Wife and I on Saturday took the FJ on the ferry to Victoria.  We were going to go to a gulf island but ended up cruising up your way to duke point for the ferry back.  We ate at the Crow and Gate.  Nice place

Thanks for the pic Fred I like that look . I like the white / black accents / polished aluminum look with some decals

Cheers all  :good:

That sounds like a nice way to spend a Saturday! The Crow and Gate is a great little English style pub. We like to sit outside if the weather is cooperating. They have a beautiful garden area there. That pub is about 3 Km from our house and on a great road for FJs!

Let me know if you plan to ride to the island in the future. We may be able to meet up for a ride, or at least I can help plan a good route for you.
